Rother Valley Pride Walk

We are passionate about making sure members of the LGBTQ+ community feel safe and included at work and in our organisation. Jade Gibson, our Welfare and Wellbeing Officer, is proud to be leading our team on a Pride Awareness walk at Rother Valley Country Park next week.

Jade has organized members of our customer and staff base to join us in our walk on Tuesday 20th June from 1pm onwards.

One of our amazing Support Workers, Jen, has worked for Caremark since 2021, and is part of our wonderful staff team providing day to day personal care, medication assistance, community access, and clinical support to our customers. We asked Jen how she feels about working for us and this was her response…

My name is Jen, I have been working with Caremark for 2years now and I am still loving it. I have amazing customers, and so much support from colleagues. My sexuality had never stopped me from being included, supported, listened to or even from being accepted from customers’ families.

I feel as I am part of something with Caremark. The team and customers see me as ‘Jen-Jen’ and the fact that I am gay doesn’t have any negative response from anyone.

It makes me feel safe and secure that there is no negative judgement towards me, and that helps bring the positivity into the work that we do.’

I believe in this saying “Some people say you are going the wrong way, when it’s simply a way of your own” whichever way you take, we will continue to support and help you achieve what’s possible.
