High-quality support to people with complex care needs
After almost three decades working in health and social care, Louise Clarke knows exactly what it takes to provide high-quality support to people with complex care needs.
Louise now leads our care planning and recruitment at Caremark Rotherham and Sheffield. She draws on years of first-hand experience to support clients, families and colleagues across the areas we serve.
Having previously worked in home care herself, Louise says she understands both the challenges and the rewards of being a Support Worker.
“My previous experience in home care has given me a better understanding of what it means to be a Support Worker, both the challenges you face and how rewarding the role can be,” said Louise.
Louise has worked in the sector since leaving school at 16, following in the footsteps of her older sister.
Her experience includes home care, residential care for older people living with dementia and work with disabled children and adolescents. She is also studying for her Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management.
“Caremark can offer a clear career path where you develop your skills as you are working,” said Louise.
Our person-centred approach is the right one
In her current role, Louise meets new clients and their families and carries out initial assessments. She also liaises with other agencies to draw up care plans. In addition, she implements positive behaviour support plans and risk assessments. She carries out regular reviews and makes changes as clients’ needs evolve.
Recruiting suitable staff, carrying out DBS applications and other necessary checks, and arranging appropriate induction and support also form an important part of her work.
With nearly 30 years in the sector, Louise has seen significant changes. She also believes our organisation’s person-centred approach is the right one.
“For the client, this means understanding their priorities, knowing what matters most to them and following up to ensure the team is delivering that support,” said Louise.

Outside work, Louise enjoys being her sons’ biggest football supporter. She is looking forward to her annual holiday in Cornwall with her partner, two sons and Rocky the Doberdor — the family pet, who is a cross between a Doberman and a Labrador.
