First impressions

First impressions are important and it’s fair to say that Precious Eneh has made a very good one.
She joined the home care support team at Caremark Kirklees in August 2024 and just four months later was named Carer of the Month.
The award citation praised Precious for her reliability, her meticulous care notes and the very high standard of care she provides.
That may have been due in part to the extensive experience she brought with her from her time as a volunteer in a busy hospital in Nigeria.
“We assisted the nursing staff in a wide range of treatments and I found that I enjoyed the job and found helping people very fulfilling,” said Precious.
“Caremark gives the opportunity of further experience and also to study for health qualifications whilst working which I am doing.”
Precious, 25, believes empathy for the situation clients find themselves in is essential to being a good carer.
“Mobility issues or pain can result in frustration and sometimes lead to people saying or doing things they don’t mean,” she said.
“To do this job you have to have tolerance and understanding and a passion for helping people.”
Outside of work Precious likes to relax by going for a walk or curling up in front of the television watching Netflix. She’s always happy to go back to work though.
“I had no idea I had been named Carer of the Month and it came as a surprise,” said Precious.
“To be able to do a job you enjoy and have people appreciate your work is wonderful.”
