The many compliments she received

Azqa Bajwa was named Caremark Cheltenham and Gloucester’s Carer of the Month for July, just three months after returning from maternity leave. Her colleagues and customers were delighted to welcome her back. The many compliments she received made the recognition especially meaningful.

Originally from Pakistan, Azqa had been studying accountancy before moving to the UK. Although she had also completed a year of nursing study, working in care was a new direction for her. She joined Caremark Cheltenham and Gloucester nearly four years ago. She learned the role through hands-on experience, training and support from the team.

What began as a change of path has become a career Azqa genuinely values.

“The best part of being a carer is looking after people and knowing that support has made a difference,” she says.

Carer of the month award

After a year away on maternity leave following the birth of her first child, Azqa admits that she felt a little nervous about returning to work. However, concerns quickly faded when customers and colleagues welcomed her back so warmly.

Being selected as Carer of the Month and presented with a bouquet came as a complete surprise.

“I was really shocked as I had only been back for three months, but it was lovely to know people think so highly of me,” she adds.

A fitting celebration of the positive impact she makes for customers

Now back in a full-time role, Azqa appreciates the flexibility and understanding the team provides, particularly when family appointments arise. She says that support helps her balance a career she enjoys with precious time caring for her young son.

Azqa’s enthusiasm, kindness and commitment are clear in the feedback she receives.
