Sharlene Reynolds and Zulaikha Mahmood (Waltham Forest)

Sharlene and Zulaikha worked exceptionally well together in a difficult and distressing situation which clearly demonstrated their competence, professionalism and compassion.

Arriving at their client’s home for their scheduled call, they found their client still and not breathing.  They quickly alerted the emergency services and, as instructed, began CPR.

Sharlene contacted  the on-call manager and advised her of the situation and then contacted the client’s family.  Throughout this situation, both care workers demonstrated best practice and good communication with all parties which ensured that the overall service to other clients and their onward care calls were not disrupted or affected.  Charlotte and Tedi, members of their care team also supported Sharlene and Zulaikha through this emergency which was greatly appreciated.

Sadly the client was not able to be saved and as Sharlene knew the family well, she offered to deliver the sad news to them.

Sharlene and Zulaikha are to be commended for their professionalism and teamwork. Well done to you both!
