An important step on her career journey

As a child growing up in Nigeria, Oluwatosin Britto-Arinola always wanted to be a doctor. It’s an ambition she’s never given up on and she sees her current role with Caremark Rotherham and Sheffield as an important step on her career journey.
Known to everyone as Britto, she said: “The dream is still there, I hope to take further medical qualifications one day and my work with Caremark is great experience for the future.”
It was whilst studying for a Masters’ degree in Big Data Analytics that Britto first started working in the care sector. She now works full time helping children, young people and adults with complex and clinical care needs who are living at home
Passionate about helping young people
In the case of the children we support, as with any teenage it is a time of change, a time when they need to gain more independence to prepare for the future,” said Britto.
“I am passionate about helping these young people to achieve their goals and lead more fulfilling and enjoyable lives.”
These goals can range from managing domestic tasks such as washing and cleaning, personal hygiene, taking medication and preparing meals, to being able to venture safely into the outside world to take part in community-based activities.
Britto loves to travel. She uses time off to visit various towns and cities across the UK and has Switzerland and Greece on her to do list of foreign trips, probably to a soundtrack of Westlife, Celine Dion or Backstreet Boys.

Contentment at work
She says she finds contentment in her work and has some advice for anyone else thinking of joining the sector.
Firstly, you must find your own humanity and also want to give back to humanity, that sincere passion to help others has to come from within,” said Britto.
“It’s an incredibly warm feeling when you walk through a door and see how happy someone is to see you, realising the positive impact you can have on someone’s life.”
