Caremark Oldham Newsletter – July

In this issue of Caremark Oldham’s July Newsletter 2026, we reflect on what is “Good Care” . We also share all our news from Caremark Oldham & our community work.
What is in this Issue
July is Good Care Month, and this edition recognises the dedication and impact of our care assistants across Oldham.
As a result, we reflect on our core values and highlight the relationships built with customers.
In addition, we share July birthdays, recent community projects and an overview of live‑in care. Together, these updates show how our team delivers good care every day.
Celebrating “Good Care” month !
This month, the team came together for a social event at the office to recognise the outstanding contribution of our Care Assistants. As we awarded “Care Assistant of the Month” for June to the whole team, it created a welcome moment to pause, connect and appreciate the dedication shown across the service.
We provided a light lunch and the “obligatory” cakes for everyone, and many care assistants took time out of their busy schedules to pop in. In addition, it’s becoming quite a tradition that our care assistants love to bring food to share, and this occasion was no exception. Because of that, we all enjoyed some wonderful traditional dishes.
A huge thank you to everyone who brought food and helped make the event so enjoyable.
The celebration highlighted the vital role our care assistants play in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care. Furthermore, their commitment to supporting customers, collaborating with colleagues, covering shifts and consistently going above and beyond has a meaningful impact every day.
Above all, the standard of care our customers rely on is shaped by this continued dedication, and the contribution of our care assistants remains central to the quality and compassion of the service.
Their work makes a difference, changes lives and is truly appreciated.

Care Assistant of the Month
Kelly received our Care Assistant of the Month award for May.
Throughout the month, customers and families shared wonderful feedback about her kindness and professionalism:
- “She is fantastic at her job; Kelly makes me feel comfortable and puts me at ease.”
- “I’m very pleased with the care he is receiving, Kelly is very good with my dad .”
- “Kelly is one of the best care assistants I’ve seen — she always puts customers’ best interests first.”
Together, these comments highlight Kelly’s dedication and the difference she makes every day, and we’re incredibly proud of her.

Our Core Values
As we celebrate Good Care Month, we’re taking a moment to highlight how our Core Values guide daily care. In practice, they shape safe, respectful and person‑centred support, reminding us what good care looks like.
At Caremark Oldham, person‑centred care is central. By building consistent core teams around each customer, we ensure they’re supported by care assistants they know and trust.
Often, that familiar face makes all the difference. They notice early changes straight away and know exactly how each customer prefers their cup of tea.
Including our Core Values in this article helps explain why we share them. Ultimately, they give customers confidence in who we are, how we work and the care we deliver.

Three Peaks Challenge
We’re incredibly proud of our Caremark Oldham colleague, Michelle, who took on Mahdlo Youth Zone’s 15‑mile Three Peaks of Saddleworth challenge as the charity celebrates its 15th anniversary.
As many will know, Mahdlo Youth Zone provides vital support, safe spaces and life‑changing opportunities for young people across Oldham, and their work is made possible through ongoing fundraising and community involvement.
This year’s challenge took participants across Pots and Pans, Indian’s Head and Wharmton Hill, bringing together supporters, families and local organisations to raise essential funds for Mahdlo’s incredible programmes.
In support of Michelle, a donation was made from our staff Charity Bonus Ball fund, recognising both her commitment and the cause she chose to champion.
We’re extremely proud to support a team member who goes above and beyond for our community, both in her care role and through charity involvement. Ultimately, Michelle’s dedication reflects the values we strive to uphold at Caremark Oldham.

“Without my…..“
Person‑centred care is at the heart of everything we do at Caremark Oldham. It’s all about giving our customers the best chance to enjoy independent living while still doing the things they love.
Recently, we reflected on some of the special relationships our care assistants have built with their customers, and what these moments mean to them.
- Doreen enjoys her weekly outings with Michelle to cafés and garden centres, and she loves a pamper session. Each visit gives her confidence and leaves her feeling happy, relaxed and uplifted.
- John loves the drive out and the chance to relax over a meal with Howard, who has supported him on companionship visits for more than two years. Over time, their friendship has grown through shared laughter and conversation.
- Every Thursday teatime, William looks forward to Howard calling in to collect his favourite meal on the way to his visit. Because of this, Howard has made a small tradition possible, turning a simple treat into something William can rely on and enjoy.
- Vinnie values his strong and long‑standing friendship with Debra. She always prepares his meals in advance, showing her thoughtful and organised approach to his care. As a result, this consistency has had a meaningful impact on Vinnie and has positively supported his wellbeing.
Together, these long‑standing friendships show how much personalised care can shape someone’s day.
Strong, consistent relationships help customers feel secure, understood and genuinely supported, and the trust built over time often becomes one of the most meaningful parts of receiving care at home.

Buckley Belles Race Night Fundraiser
We were delighted to sponsor a local dance troupe’s recent fundraising event. On 10 July, Buckley Belles hosted a Race Night, and we were proud to be one of the race sponsors supporting their efforts.
As part of Oldham’s Carnival World community, the troupe offers a safe, welcoming and positive environment where children can build confidence, teamwork and competitive dance skills.
However, despite the incredible work they do, the troupe receives very little recognition or financial support. Their activities are entirely self‑funded, which means fundraising events like this are essential for keeping the group running. Because of that, the Race Night plays a vital role in ensuring young dancers continue to have the opportunities they deserve.
Overall, it was a fantastic evening that brought families, supporters and the wider community together. We’re proud to support a group that gives so much to local children and helps them grow through creativity, discipline and fun.

Live-in Care
Have you ever considered live‑in care for your loved one?
Live‑in care offers 24/7 support from a dedicated Care Assistant who lives with you at home. Because of this, you receive consistent, one‑to‑one support that helps you stay safe, independent and comfortable in familiar surroundings. This personalised approach includes all aspects of personal care, medication, housekeeping and companionship, all tailored to your routines and preferences.
It’s an ideal option for people who want to remain at home, stay close to their beloved pets or retain important community connections. In particular, live‑in care can support those living with dementia, frailty or recovering after illness, as familiar surroundings often ease confusion and anxiety. For couples, it also provides a wonderful way to remain together at home while receiving the support they need.
We can offer short‑term live‑in cover during family holidays, giving you peace of mind while you’re away.
With this continuity, person‑centred planning and close links with local health professionals, live‑in care provides reassurance, safety and genuine companionship every day.
Many families find live‑in care offers greater value than residential care, especially when considering the level of personalised support provided. Additionally, funding options may be available, and we’re always happy to discuss the best route for your circumstances.
