Caremark Oldham Care Customer Wins National Competition
It truly felt like a dream come true.
We feel proud because Cirsty, who receives regular Caremark Oldham home care, became one of only 20 winners across the UK. She gained her wish through Caremark’s Care for a Wish initiative, which marked our 20th anniversary.
What was Caremark’s “Care for a Wish” competition about?
Care for a Wish celebrated Caremark’s 20th anniversary and focused on giving back to our customers. The campaign aimed to grant 20 meaningful wishes, and each one brought joy, comfort, and lasting memories.
Moreover, the wishes ranged from once‑in‑a‑lifetime experiences to simple moments that brighten daily life. Each wish reflected something personal and important to the individual.
Because all 140 Caremark offices took part, the campaign united the Caremark family in a shared mission to improve lives and spread happiness.

How were the winners selected?
Customers receiving Caremark Oldham home care, or their Care Assistants, could submit a wish and explain its impact. Afterward, an independent judging panel reviewed every entry and chose 20 winners based on:
- Impact — how the wish could improve wellbeing and quality of life
- Need — whether the customer faced challenges such as ill health or loneliness
- Feasibility — whether the wish fit the £1,000 budget and practical limits
- Uniqueness — how distinctive or special the wish felt
Ultimately, Care for a Wish celebrated remarkable individuals and created moments of joy that will stay with them.g lasting moments of joy.
About the winner
We feel delighted because Cirsty, who receives regular Caremark Oldham home care, became one of the 20 national winners. Her wish was to watch The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 10 May.
Caremark Limited funded and organised the entire experience, and her son Kieran joined her for the trip. The day included an evening meal and an overnight stay in London.
Commenting on having her wish come true, Cirsty said:
“I have been a Lord of the Rings fan since I was a child, and it’s always had a very special place in my heart. It was my escape from life in general, and even now, if I am down or feeling really sad, I will put Lord of the Rings on. When I found out I had won, I was over the moon. I felt elated; it was amazing.”

Post trip review
Following her return home to Oldham from London, we asked Cirsty about her trip…
She explained that both she and Kieran felt excited for the trip, and he even woke up early. After lunch in Manchester, they travelled to London, and the train staff offered excellent support throughout the journey. Consequently, the day felt smooth and stress‑free..
“The Royal Albert Hall looked stunning, and the staff ensured comfort at every stage. The concert, performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, felt absolutely spectacular. Later, they enjoyed a lovely meal before resting at their hotel.
Although the day felt long because of her MS, every moment felt worthwhile.”
As a lifelong fan, she described the experience as a true dream come true and thanked Caremark for making it happen.
