Supporting Sport Inclusion in North Hertfordshire
At Caremark, facilitate sport inclusion for clients with disabilities to enjoy the buzz of movement, teamwork and achievement. Supporting sport inclusion in North Hertfordshire is central to our mission. It means removing physical, social and attitudinal barriers so everyone can access welcoming activities, teams and facilities on equal terms.
On August 4th 2026, Caremark North Herts and Stevenage team joined Wheelathon 2026 in Hertfordshire, organised by the Herts Disability Sport Foundation. This event champions disability sports and adapts sessions to suit individual needs. Our involvement celebrated the power of inclusive sports and helped fund more opportunities across the county in Hertfordshire.
Wheelathon 2026
Kudzai Marozwa, is 21 years old and lives with cerebral palsy. He is non verbal and has limited use of his limbs, and loves adapted cycling. Marketing Manager Sharon Stevens found Wheelathon the perfect opportunity to treat Kudzai and the family to some time out. Activities like these help elevate the profile of disability sports in Hertfordshire as well raises postivive awareness of cerebral palsy. Sharon in her typical “go big or go home” made ‘Team Kudzai’ t-shirts for everyone. Budget minded too, she designed the logo and transferred it to the t-shirts herself.
Presenting the t-shirt to Kudzai and his family before the event meant a lot. It built excitement for Kudzai and made him feel included. Creating joy and inclusion for others is a fundamental part of Caremark North Herts and Stevenage’s values.
On the day, ‘Team Kudzai’ made up of his parents, brother, two Care Assistants and Marketing Manager took turns cycling Kudzai around the 400m track at Ridlins Stadium in Stevenage. Kudzai is non verbal, but he smiled throughout the day and took photos with everyone, including staff of Herts Disability Sport Foundation. Kudzai’s mother said the Wheelathon was all the could talk about for the rest of the day.
The Wheelathon showed how thoughtful planning, adaptive support and community spirit can open doors in disability sports and inclusive sports for people of all ages and abilities in Hertfordshire.
A special thank you to Ros Cramp, Charity Director of HDSF Karen Rains, and Charlie, Senior Instructor for Herts Disability Sport Foundation who made everyone feel welcome and included. Hertfordshire’s Year of Disability Sport
2026 is dedicated to a year long campaign dedicated to breaking down barriers for people with disabilities to be able to access sports.
Herts Disability Sport Foundation (HDSF) supports people with a wide range of disabilities to enjoy sports. They are a friendly team who will be happy to chat through specific disability needs. This is all part of No Limits 2026 which is a year long campaign to break down barriers to allow people with disabilities to access physical activities in Hertfordshire. Do you provide equipment?
We don’t supply equipment directly, but we help arrange trials of adaptive kit through clubs, NHS services, local charities and hire schemes, and we support grant or budget applications.
How do you keep people safe?
Safety is built in through person‑centred risk assessments, venue checks, trained staff and clear emergency plans. We agree communication methods, roles and adjustments with coaches and review regularly.
Can you help with transport?
Yes. We plan accessible routes, accompany public transport, or arrange taxis and refer to community transport where available.
