Caremark’s 2024 Incredibles Event
In an inspiring moment of recognition, Arjanpreet (Preet) Kaur, a dedicated care assistant from Caremark Cardiff and the Vale, has been named Caremark’s ‘Incredible of the Year’ at a prestigious awards ceremony held at Fortnum & Mason in London. Competing against ten exceptional finalists and standing out from over 5,000 care assistants across the UK, Preet’s outstanding contributions to her customers’ lives earned her this well-deserved honour.
Sharan Dhaliwal, Managing Director and Care Manager of Caremark Cardiff and the Vale, shared her pride in Preet’s achievement:
“Preet exemplifies everything we strive for in exceptional caregiving. Her stories of quick thinking, emotional connection, and unwavering dedication demonstrate her remarkable impact on her customers and their families. We couldn’t be prouder to see her recognised for her incredible work.”
Transforming Lives Through Care
Preet’s journey to winning the award is filled with heartwarming examples of her extraordinary dedication. Among them:
- Saving a Life: Preet was quick to act during a routine visit to a customer with hypertension who suffered a stroke. Her rapid response, including calling emergency services and providing crucial details to paramedics, was credited by doctors as life-saving. Her customer, deeply grateful, remarked, “Preet didn’t just care for me – she saved my life.”
- End-of-Life Care: Preet formed a close bond with a customer in the final stages of his life, overcoming language barriers by learning key Welsh phrases to provide comfort. Her customer’s family expressed immense gratitude, describing her care as, “beyond anything we could have hoped for.”
- Building Trust: For a customer living with vascular dementia who was fearful of letting anyone into her home, Preet’s patience and persistence transformed their relationship. Through her gentle approach, she gained trust and created a nurturing environment, earning the heartfelt appreciation of the customer’s daughter.
Recognising Excellence in Care
David Glover, CEO of Caremark, praised Preet’s achievement and the impact of the awards ceremony:
“Our annual event celebrates the very best of Caremark’s mission to deliver highly personalised and life-changing care. The stories of all ten finalists moved us deeply, but Preet’s consistent compassion and her ability to deeply connect with each person she supports made her an exemplary choice for this award.”
