The flexibility of hours offered by Caremark Mansfield & Ashfield ensures rotas can accommodate most people’s family circumstances.

That was the case for Eve Summers who was looking for a job after a two-year break to have her first child. She wanted a meaningful role that allowed her the space to enjoy quality time with her son Cruz.

“This was my first role in the care sector and I am enjoying it more than I thought I would,” said Eve.

“Customers tell me how much they enjoy my visits and when you see the smile in their faces as you arrive it makes it all worthwhile.”

The key is to be patient

After leaving school Eve studied for a degree in psychology and she believes that has benefitted her home care support role with Caremark.

“It has proved useful, especially when working with people living with dementia,” said Eve. “The key is to be patient and kind and build up a trusting relationship.”

Eve, 23, works seven days per fortnight allowing her to spend plenty of time with Cruz, enjoying days in the park, soft play or trips to visit family in Nottinghamshire.

Tailoring work around individual circumstances

“Caremark appealed because it was one of the few employers who offered flexible hours tailored around your individual circumstances,” said Eve.

“I can drop Cruz off at nursery, carry out some calls and then pick him up and spend time with him so it works well.”

She adds: “I’d never intended to work in the care sector but with a gran who worked in home care support and a mum who worked as a carer in a residential home I guess it was in my genes.”
