Caroline has been training hard for many weeks in order to complete her first half Marathon running for the charity St Richards Hospice
Worcester Full and Half Marathon is now in its eigth year and has grown consistently in that time. The race was based at Six Ways Rugby Stadium where the Worcester Warriors team play.

Both distances started at 9:30am in Offerton Lane, a five-minute walk from the Rugby Club. The Full Marathon took in two laps of the loop around beautiful rural lanes. The Half accompanied the Full for the first lap before splitting away at 11 miles and heading back where both races finish in front of the Worcester Warriors Ground.

Caroline had been in training for some months as running a half marathon is quite a big deal!  She has run in events before and her previous longest race was 10k.  She had been ready for a while and completed it in a good time.

All finishers received a quality bespoke medal and technical T-shirt.

Here is a snippet from their website and what ST Richards Hospice is all about

“Our care is unique to each individual – whatever his or her physical, emotional or spiritual needs. Our hospice team includes our own doctors, nurses, social worker, counsellors and therapists working alongside highly trained volunteers.Through care in your home, In-patient Unit, Day Hospice and all our further support services, we are able to help patients and families at a very difficult time.

One of our main aims is to enable patients to stay at home where possible, providing our care alongside their own doctors and nurses with the back up of the Day Hospice. When appropriate, patients may be admitted to the In-patient Unit.

Every year St Richard’s provides free, expert care and support for over 3,000 patients, their loved ones and the bereaved.”

Caroline is now setting her sights on the New York marathon in November where she made it through a lottery system in order to participate in the coveted event.  She has decided that for the marathon that she will raise money for the British Hens Welfare Trust.
