Memorable highlights and achievements

2025 has been an absolutely fantastic year at Caremark Rotherham and Sheffield with so many memorable highlights and achievements to be proud of. As we end the year, we wanted to share some of these with you in the following article.

The year started with a real bang when we were awarded a ‘Good’ rating by our regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Things didn’t really let up from then. It culminated with one of our fabulous Support Workers, Andrew, being one of only ten finalists in the end of year Caremark ‘The Incredibles’ competition.

A summary of the key moments in 2025

CQC Report – a report published at the end of January saw us being awarded a Good rating in all five categories: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive & Well-Led. Comments from our clients and family members contributed to this outstanding success. The comments included “They helped me through the worst time of my life.” “They treat my family member with dignity and respect, giving them independence.” “They treat them like royalty.”

2000 Hours of Weekly Care Reached in Sheffield – this is a really important milestone which we are extremely proud of. It underlines our dedication to delivering consistent, high-quality support to individuals with complex needs in the communities we serve.

Complex Care Awards – we were finalists in two categories: outstanding complex care provider and outstanding patient and client support. We were delighted to attend the glittering awards ceremony in London. There, we shared best practice and success with Peers in our sector.

Care for a Wish – one of our clients, Rohan, was one of only 20 people in the UK to be selected as a recipient in this national initiative. It was launched to celebrate Caremark’s 20th anniversary. Rohan loves history, so we went to London with his mum Helen to see the sights.

Developing our staff from within

Team Progression – we have always sought to develop our staff and promote from within. 2025 was a great example of that. Sharon Callan was promoted from Finance Director to the position of Managing Director. Furthermore, Kirsty Vickers moved from Case Leader to Deputy Complex Care Manager. Both Sharon and Kirsty started with us as Support Workers many years ago. This sends out a very strong message to all staff. The sky is the limit when it comes to career progression at Caremark Rotherham and Sheffield.

Client and Staff Events – we hold events for clients across every year, but our summer events, including our annual gala, are always a particular highlight. We also had a Halloween party, Odd Sock Day, Children in Need, and lots of Christmas-related activities.

20 Acts of Kindness – to mark Caremark’s national 20th anniversary this year, we launched our own 20 Acts of Kindness. This was a heartfelt way of giving back and celebrating the amazing community which has supported us over the years. It involved giving away 20 fantastic trip-based prizes to our clients. We did this after holding a free raffle at our four summer events.

Headway Sponsorship – we have been providing support to Headway Rotherham. This important, national brain injury charity is putting it towards meaningful activities for its members, including cookery and pottery classes.

Staff Forum – Each quarter we hold a Staff Forum meeting. A cross section of our Support Workers are invited to attend. They share their ideas and thoughts with our CEO and Management Team. We also use these important meetings to update staff on our future plans, highlight particular achievements, progression opportunities and much more. We really value staff input as a fully inclusive, people-focused local employer.

The Incredibles – our Support Worker, Andrew Uwareme, was one of only ten people out of 6,500 care workers. He was named as a finalist in ‘The Incredibles’, a national award bestowed by Caremark, which was open to all 140-plus Caremark franchises across the UK and Ireland. We nominated Andrew for his dedication, patience, and ability. He has had a profound impact on the life of a boy called Logan. Logan has a profound intellectual disability with autism and other complex needs.

National Performance League Tables – in the latest quarterly leaderboard collated by Caremark nationally, we were ranked 1st (for Sheffield) and 7th (for Rotherham) out of all 140 offices in the franchise network. This was based on a series of key quality measures, including client growth.

Homecare.co.uk – on the UK’s leading home care review website, we have a review score of 9.9 out of 10. We also have ten five-star reviews from our clients, families, and complex care professionals. Feedback from the people we provide care to means everything, and we are incredibly proud of this achievement.

Staff retention – we have an industry-leading staff retention rate of over 95%. This reflects our commitment to, and investment in, the amazing people who work for us. Everything we do is always about our people.
