Loves her job
The flexibility you get working for Caremark Redcar and Cleveland is one of the many things why Danielle Simmons loves her job as a Care Plan Coordinator.
With her nine-year-old dancing-mad daughter Hallie needing to be taken far and wide to competitions and six-year-old son Carter also very active, being able to work from home is a major plus for Danielle. She first joined Caremark as a Care Assistant in 2015.
It’s also a big bonus during the school holidays. This means Danielle can spend quality time with her family during the day. She can then catch up on hours during the evening and weekend.
“The company provided me with a desktop computer. I’ve been trained in preparing care plans and reports up to industry standards,” said Danielle.
“I love my job and flexible working means I’m able to work when the children are at school, on holidays and on evenings when they are in bed.”
Peace of mind for relatives
Danielle’s role sees her liaise with customers and their families, social workers and care assessors. She draws up an individual care plan for each person. Each care plan is regularly updated and can be accessed via the Caremark app.
This provides peace of mind for relatives who can check their loved ones are being cared for when they can’t be there. It also provides full information for carers carrying out calls.
Danielle has also been able to study from home and gain an NVQ Level in Adult Care. When the timing is right, this leads to a Level 5 qualification and possible move into management.
“Caremark’s flexible working arrangements means I can continue to work whilst also raising a family and spending time with the children,” said Danielle.
The flexibility of work
That time includes the lighter side, trips to fun parks and dancing competitions, as well as the more challenging.
“There have been many trips to hospital and consultations with my little boy over the past couple of years before he was given an autism diagnosis and again the flexibility of work has helped with that,” said Danielle.
“He’s also been schooled on two sites as he stepped up to primary school and that meant him being picked up every day at lunchtime which I couldn’t have managed in a conventional 9-5 job.”
Danielle married Dale in 2024. In the run up to the wedding she managed to lose four stones through slimming and trips to the gym.
“The flexibility of hours allows me to plan my life better and has helped me lose weight. I feel better and have more energy which I think has benefitted Caremark and it’s definitely benefitted me,” said Danielle.
“I can now keep up with the kids in the soft play area.”
