Amie

Whether it comes to providing care in the home or the key role she now plays coordinating care from our support office, Amie Bowe is certainly a cut above!

That’s not surprising having spent 16 years working as a hairdresser before deciding on a complete change of career in 2022.

She joined Caremark Mansfield as Care Assistant in November 2022 and made such an impression that she was promoted to her current position of Care Coordinator exactly 12 months later.

In this role, she works with our other Care Coordinators to ensure that our 2,000 weekly care hours are allocated correctly, as well as liaising with customers, families, and health professionals. She even picks up the odd care or two when necessary.

Amie says: “After working in a hairdressing salon since the age of 14 it was a big change and initially when I started going into people’s homes I thought ‘I can’t do this’.

“But I am glad I stuck with it because we make such a difference to people’s lives.”

As a Care Assistant, Amie’s previous role sometimes came in handy.

She explains: “One lady would only let me wash her hair and plait it for her because she knew I was a hairdresser!”

“It’s different now I am working in the office, but we have just as important role to play, and I think it helps that staff know we have also been carers ourselves, so they are even more willing to go the extra mile for you.”

Amie says that any spare time she and her partner have are spent watching their football-mad son play football at weekends.
