King Charles’s Official Birthday 2026: Celebrating Birthdays in Home Care
Happy (Official) Birthday to the King!
Following the spectacular Trooping the Colour parade last weekend, our local community is still buzzing with patriotic cheer. The event last Saturday, 13th June 2026, marked King Charles’s 78th birthday year. This is his fourth summer celebration as our reigning monarch. Of course, royal experts know a fun piece of British trivia: His Majesty’s actual birth date isn’t until November!
Why Does the King Get Two Birthdays?
It might sound like a royal perk, but the tradition of having two birthdays is actually down to a very British problem: the weather!
The custom dates all the way back to 1748 with King George II. His actual birthday fell in chilly, damp November. Realising that the dreary British autumn was hardly ideal for grand public celebrations, he made a pragmatic decision. He chose to tie his public birthday festivities to the annual Trooping the Colour military parade held in the glorious, warmer month of June.
Ever since, British monarchs have celebrated privately on their real birth date and enjoyed a grand public spectacle in the summer. Having two birthdays sounds like an excellent custom to us! After all, a life well-lived deserves to be celebrated as much as possible!

A Very Special 100th Birthday!
Speaking of grand royal celebrations, we recently had some true royalty of our own to honour! One of our wonderful clients, Giles, recently reached the incredible milestone of turning 100 years old!
To mark his centenary, Giles received a very special birthday letter from the King himself. Our localised home care team was by his side to ensure he celebrated his 100th birthday in absolute style, surrounded by comfort, joy, and a well-deserved royal card.
