We were thrilled to be invited to deliver a Domiciliary Care Masterclass at Lewisham College, offering students a real insight into the world of home care and the many rewarding career opportunities within the sector.

The session aimed to break down misconceptions about care work and highlight the vital role domiciliary carers play in supporting people of all ages to live independently in their own homes. From personal care and companionship to specialist support for those with complex needs, we shared the wide variety of services our team provides every day across Bromley and Lewisham.

What We Covered

During the masterclass, students learned about:

  • What domiciliary care is and how it differs from other care settings
  • A day in the life of a care assistant – the challenges, rewards, and real-life impact
  • The wide range of clients we support, including older adults, children with additional needs, and individuals with dementia, autism, or physical disabilities
  • The training and support available, including full in-house training, mentoring, and opportunities to gain care qualifications
  • Career pathways within health and social care – from care assistant to manager, specialist roles, and even routes into nursing and social work

We also shared personal stories from our team, giving students a first-hand look at what it’s like to work in care and how it can lead to long-term, meaningful careers.

Why It Matters

Health and social care is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the UK, with a huge demand for compassionate, dedicated individuals. Yet many people aren’t aware of the flexibility, training, and progression opportunities that come with a role in domiciliary care.

By connecting directly with students, we hope to spark interest, answer questions, and inspire future carers to consider this vital and rewarding career path.

Thank You, Lewisham College!
