The important role

Raji Yaramala is celebrating 12 months working for Caremark Wakefield and is enjoying the important role she is playing helping our customers remain at home.

Raji, who is from India, had just completed her master’s degree in engineering management in Leicester when she decided she wanted to remain in the UK.

So, she applied through the overseas sponsorship programme and having started as a carer in March 2023, hasn’t looked back since.

“Taking care of your family, especially the older members, is something we do in India, so caring was something I was already used to,” she explains.

“It’s obviously a little different going into people’s homes you don’t know but you soon build relationships with them, and they have now become like my family.

“The customers I support all have different needs but whether it’s personal care, shopping or companionship, they are all very grateful for what you do for them.”

When she’s not working, Raji enjoys spending time with her husband and taking trips to see their family.
