Share ideas and thoughts

Each quarter we hold a Staff Forum meeting. A cross section of our Support Workers are invited to attend and share their ideas and thoughts with our CEO and Management Team.

Mark McKenning, our Chief Executive said: “Our culture is important to us. We value our people and we listen to them. The Forums are fantastic as they allow us to update staff on our future plans. They highlight particular achievements, progression and training opportunities. We also listen to the team’s ideas and their initiatives.”

Two recent examples of this are bringing forward our Christmas pay dates from the end of the month to the 23rd December. This year we are also providing a digital shopping voucher rather than a physical voucher. These changes were both at the request of our staff.

The sky is the limit for staff at Caremark Rotherham and Sheffield

It was particularly pleasing to discuss the many staff achievements over the last few months, including the recent winners of our Halo awards. Notably, the incredible success of Support Worker Andrew Uwareme who was one of only ten people out of 6,500 care workers to be named as a finalist in ‘The Incredibles’. This is a national award bestowed nationally and was open to all 140-plus Caremark franchises across the UK and Ireland.

During our November Forum we discussed the recent team changes. These include Sharon Callan being promoted to become Managing Director. Additionally, Kirsty Vickers was promoted to the position of Deputy Care Manager.

Sharon and Kirsty are two excellent examples of how we look to develop our staff and promote from within. Both individuals started with us as Support Workers many years ago. We believe this sends out a strong message to all staff. The sky is the limit when it comes to career progression at Caremark Rotherham and Sheffield.

Following on from the recent Forum, our CEO Mark McKenning is to meet with a couple of Forum members. Together, they plan to map out promotional pathways. This will allow all our staff to clearly see the opportunities which exist for everyone.
