We have a real Lady in our midst at Caremark Rotherham & Sheffield, that title having been bestowed on our client Natasha (or Lady Nat as we all call her) by her sister who bought her the title for her 30th birthday. Lady Nat suffered an Acquired Brain Injury as a result of an accident on a bike when she was a child
This has left her with dyspraxia on her left side that affects her movement and mobility. She also suffers with myoclonic jerks and a two second swallow delay associated with the ABI, irritable bowel syndrome and mild sleep apnea.
We have supported Lady Nat for 18 months. In that time, she’s built some amazing connections and found a real sense of confidence and independence.
One of the strongest connections has been made with Support Worker Kate Aleem. To see them together you would think they are the best of friends, but in a professional context. Kate is one of Lady Nat’s team of dedicated Support Workers.

Staying active and connected in the community
Lady Nat and Kate spend around eighteen hours together each week and it shows. They head out for shopping trips, ten-pin bowling, bingo nights and watching movies at home.
One of the biggest changes in Lady Nat’s life has been her growing independence. She’s got more confident doing day‑to‑day things like her own cleaning. In addition, she also helps out in the home she shares with her parents. She’s even started using public transport on her own using the bus pass which Kate helped her apply for. That freedom to get out and about beyond her support hours has been a big plus for Lady Nat.
Living with her mum and dad gives Lady Nat a strong family base. We’re simply there to provide a little extra support. And to ensure she is able to lead a fulfilling life staying active and connected in the community.
