A record 270 members of staff were recognised at our end of year awards

A record 270 members of staff were recognised at the 2025 Caremark Redcar and Cleveland Carer of the Year awards.
The awards took place over five days, based on the areas we cover. This year, for the first time, as well as nominations from customers members of staff were also able to put their colleagues forward for recognition.
Each member of staff had their nomination read out to them. All the nominations were then used to determine the overall winners in the four main areas of East Cleveland, Guisborough/Middlesbrough, Redcar East and Redcar West.
There was also an award recognising staff who support people in four supported living schemes. Caremark are contracted to supply care for these schemes. Special prizes were also presented.
The Supported Living Scheme Care Assistant of the Year
The Supported Living Scheme Carer of the Year Award went to Nicholas Cook, who received nine nominations.
One customer said: “Nicholas has been a big help, he understands me, listens to me, puts my pictures up for me and I do music jobs with him, such as setting up my music system and speakers.”

Guisborough/Middlesbrough Care Assistant of the Year
The Guisborough/Middlesbrough Carer of the Year Award went to Kerry-Anne Silk for the second consecutive year. She received an all-time record of 12 nominations.
One of the people who nominated Kerry-Anne said: “Kerry-Anne listens and does exactly everything I ask of her. She gets on with every task whilst conversing with me throughout the calls. Kerry-Anne goes above and beyond for me. She is all I ever want from a carer and I couldn’t ask for anyone better.”

Redcar East and Redcar West Care Assistants of the Year
The Redcar East Carer of the Year Award went to Michelle Burr. Again, for the second year in a row, with eight nominations.
One of the people who nominated her said: “Michelle is really hardworking and caring and always has funny stories to tell me. We always have a laugh and it just feels like a friend is coming round for a chat.”
The Redcar West Carer of the Year Award went to Claire Wright with six nominations. One of her customers said: “Claire has made a positive impact on our lives. She supports me as a carer and my husband who has Alzheimer’s and always arrives with a lovely smiling face and has a positive disposition.”

East Cleveland Care Assistant of the Year
The East Cleveland Carer of the Year Award went to Leah Blyth with six nominations. One customer said: “Leah goes above and beyond the call of duty when looking after my dad. She is thoughtful, dedicated, understanding, compassionate, polite and is a good friend to us now.”
Caremark Redcar and Cleveland Care Manager Danielle Laverick said: “Our awards get bigger and better every year. It was amazing that over 70% of our workforce received recognition from our customers in 2025.
“Not every customer chose, or was in a position, to make a nomination so many more our carers did not receive an award. However, every single member of staff who works for Caremark Redcar and Cleveland is deserving. In our eyes, they are all winners.”
