Working in care has transformed my life

Working in care can transform lives in ways people never expect, and Saeeda’s journey is a perfect example of how a career in care can change someone’s future. Since joining Caremark Oldham, she has grown in confidence, developed new skills and discovered strengths she didn’t know she had. Her story shows how the right support, training and encouragement can empower someone to flourish both personally and professionally.
From New Starter to Confident Career in Care: Saeeda’s Story
Saeeda joined Caremark in May 2024 with no previous professional care experience.
She wanted a role that allowed her to support others, meet new people, and stay active in the local community.
After completing Caremark’s rigorous recruitment process, she stepped confidently into her role as a care assistant, beginning a meaningful career in care that aligned perfectly with her goals.
Since then, Saeeda has supported customers with complex care needs, companionship visits, palliative care, and day‑to‑day domiciliary duties.
She approaches every visit with compassion, empathy and a commitment to delivering person‑centred care. Caremark has also supported her by offering flexible hours that fit around her childcare responsibilities, allowing her to balance work and family life.

Building Confidence Through Care
A subheading such as H3 and H4 helps divide broader topics into smaller sections that are easier to read.
When we asked Saeeda what her role has meant to her, she shared how much she has grown:
“Since working for Caremark I’ve really improved in confidence, and this shows how a career in care has benefitted both my working and personal life. I used to be very scared to drive alone, and now I can drive using my sat nav. This has strengthened my driving skills and given me the freedom to go out with my family too.”
Saeeda also recalled a conversation with our Care Manager, Charlene, who once told her: “Don’t let people lead you.” That simple sentence sparked a turning point. Saeeda realised her own capability and self‑worth, and she now carries that message with her every day. She often reflects on how much support she receives from the office team and how it has helped her grow into a confident, skilled care worker.
Growing Her Skills Through A Career In Care
Her dedication extends beyond her day‑to‑day role. Saeeda has taken on additional learning in her own time, completing courses in Dementia Awareness and Diabetes Awareness. Her dedication to learning highlights how a career in care offers ongoing development and opportunities to grow new skills.
She is currently progressing through two more modules, Recognising Mental Health and Women’s Empowerment, delivered by the Chai Group. This community organisation supports over 100 women, raises awareness around abuse, and helps prevent isolation through trips and weekly walks. Saeeda often shares with her peers how much she has flourished since joining Caremark.
Thank you, Saeeda, for your hard work, your commitment to our customers, and the positivity you bring to the Caremark Oldham team.
