Caremark Oldham supporting the MSA trust!
Caremark Oldham run a weekly bonus ball within our branch and use monies raised from this to make donations to charities/good causes close to our hearts. This month we decided to donate to the MSA trust. We chose this charity as we have had two previous clients both diagnosed with this neurological disorder and we wanted to donate this in their memory. We also wanted to highlight the MSA Trust to others. All monies raised are used to help fund their research and vital support services which proved to be a lifeline for the families of those clients mentioned and many more who are diagnosed with MSA.
Eric Armitage
The late Eric, who is one of our previous clients is pictured above with his wife Angela – who still raises money for the MSA Trust and was grateful for the donation from his previous care provider. We built up a fantastic relationship with this family and keep in contact.
Margaret
Another of our previous clients Margaret was a lovely lady who sadly battled MSA like Eric and always kept herself positive despite her decline in health. Her sister and Caremark cared for her, and Margaret built a fantastic relationship with her small team of staff.
About MSA and the trust
Unfortunately, both Eric and Margaret have since passed away, but MSA continues to affect many people’s lives and any donations are welcomed to help those currently dealing with this disease. Although MSA is a rare disease it is estimated that there are around 3,300 people living with this in the UK at any given time. It is a cruel disease that is progressive and causes the brain cells to shrink and ultimately becomes unable to send signals round the body. This means movement and speech become severely affected. It can be heart breaking to watch loved ones live through this and we hope one day a cure can be found.
