Awards celebrations
We came together at our Caremark Oldham office to celebrate our long‑standing team members with a lovely mini awards event. It was also a special moment to reflect on the journeys of our four incredible recipients:
Charlene (13 years) — from care assistant to an exceptional manager leading the way!
Howard (13 years) — still delivering compassion and dedication every day
Michelle (10 years) — consistently providing outstanding care
Debra (9 years) — our most glamorous care assistant, devoted to her customers
We’re so proud of each and every one of you.

Care Assistant of the Month
April’s Care Assistant of the Month went to Naheeda.
Naheeda stood out for the incredible emotional and practical support she provides. She has built a strong, trusting relationship with her customer, helping her feel confident and settled in the community.
In addition, she supported a colleague to learn the role, ensuring continuity of care and a consistent experience for the customer.

CQC inspection
We’re delighted to achieve a GOOD CQC rating, which recognises our safe, caring, responsive and well‑led service. Moreover, inspectors praised our kindness, dignity, independence and strong leadership.
- “People were treated with kindness, dignity and respect.”
- “Staff supported “independence, choice and control wherever possible.”
- “The service had “a good learning culture and was well led.”
As a result, this achievement reflects our team’s dedication and commitment to high‑quality care. Thank you to our customers, families and amazing Care Assistants.

Train the trainer
At Caremark Oldham, we believe great care starts with great training.
Recently, members of our team completed the Train the Trainer programme delivered by Insight Training. This milestone also strengthens our leadership team and ensures our care assistants receive high‑quality training.
Congratulations to Charlene, Asiya and Karan on completing the course and continuing their professional development journey.
Therefore, by investing in our people, we continue providing safe, effective and person‑centred care every day.

“Care for a wish” National winner
Care For a Wish celebrates Caremark’s 20th anniversary by giving back to the people at the heart of what we do — our customers. Moreover, we’re delighted that Cirsty, who receives home care support from Caremark Oldham, was chosen as one of just 20 recipients across the UK.
Her wish came true on 10th May when she travelled to London’s Royal Albert Hall to watch The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Meanwhile, Caremark Limited funded and arranged the full experience, including an evening meal, an overnight stay, and the chance to share the day with her son Kieran.
“As a lifelong Lord of the Rings fan, this experience was truly a dream come true. I can’t thank Caremark enough for making my wish a reality.”

Dementia UK “Time for a cuppa” event
We had an amazing day at our office on 8 May when we hosted our “Time for a Cuppa” event to raise funds for Dementia UK.
Our staff worked hard baking, gathering raffle prizes and decorating the office. Moreover, it was wonderful to see so many people come along to support us — our customers, care assistants, family, friends and even some new faces.
So far, we have raised £461, and we want to extend a huge thank‑you to everyone who baked and donated raffle prizes — especially Lisa and all at the Tommyfield pub for their generosity.
Ultimately, all funds support a cause very close to our hearts. To read more about this amazing fundraising initiative, click here.

What the Role of a Care Assistant Truly Means
During National Care Week, we asked our care assistants what their role in care truly means to them. Their responses were heartfelt and inspiring, and we’ve highlighted some of them below.
“‘If you find a job you love, you will never work a day in your life’… This is how I feel.” — Debra
“Working in care means helping people live safely and independently while providing emotional support, dignity and compassion.” — Hesa
“It feels amazing when I know I’m making a difference in people’s lives.” — Beenish
“It feels good to know our work makes a real difference to families who rely on us. I’m proud to be part of the team.” — Summera
“Care is far more than tasks — it’s being there in someone’s hardest moments, offering comfort, support and the small acts that mean everything.” — Asiya
In addition, we also asked some of our customers what their care assistants mean to them…
“Some of them will sit and have a chat, and I enjoy hearing about their lives. It helps because it doesn’t feel like everything is focused on me and my health all the time. Those conversations help take my mind off things and really lift my spirits.” — Cirsty
“Noman is a tremendous support, and we truly appreciate everything he does.” — Peter & Susan
Ultimately, helping people remain safe, happy and independent in their own homes sits at the heart of everything we do. For this reason, caring is more than a job, it’s a privilege.

Community Spirit
During Nation Carers Week it feels fitting to recognise the incredible work our team does every day. Care assistants play a vital role in supporting people at home with daily tasks, personal care and emotional wellbeing. From preparing meals and assisting with mobility to offering companionship and reassurance, they make a meaningful difference in the lives of our customers.
Many choose this career because they’re driven by compassion and enjoy building strong, trusting relationships. And while people often think being a care assistant means giving so much of yourself, the truth is that the relationships you build give just as much back.
Care at home is also full of joy — sharing a laugh, enjoying a coffee together or joining someone in an activity they love. As a result, it’s a role filled with connection, growth and moments that stay with you long after your shift ends.
