Asiya’s journey shows how a career in care can grow through passion, learning, and determination. Starting as a Care Assistant, she quickly developed new skills, built strong relationships and discovered how meaningful and rewarding care can be. Her story reflects a true care sector career journey, showing how confidence grows, opportunities open and how meaningful care can truly change lives.

A Strong Start for a Career in Social Care

Asiya first explored joining Caremark Oldham in 2022 while studying Health and Social Care. She had retail and childcare experience, but felt the social care sector suited her skills and interests. In early 2023, she joined Caremark as a Care Assistant after completing her Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care. She later studied Social Work at Salford University and graduated with honours in 2025.

Asiya loved building relationships with her clients. She often spent time chatting with them about their families, younger days and life experiences. She felt that simply listening mattered as much as the physical care she provided, and those moments made her fall in love with care.

“I’ve always been a people person and enjoyed helping others. I quickly realised how rewarding the job was.”

These early experiences laid the foundations of her inspiring career in care, showing her how much difference compassionate support can make.

Finding Her Path

Asiya originally planned to become a social worker. During her degree, she gained experience as a Mental Health Liaison in the Hospital Discharge Team at Tameside Hospital, supporting adults with learning disabilities.

She explained, “Although I really enjoyed social work, I had already built strong relationships with clients and colleagues at Caremark.”

In August 2025, she stepped into the Field Care Supervisor role and flourished. As a result, this experience changed her direction. She chose not to pursue social work and instead focused on developing her career with Caremark Oldham.

“I realised I could use everything I’d learnt during my degree, safeguarding, advocacy and person‑centred care,  within my new role.”

We were delighted with her decision. Asiya has grown in confidence and capability and has excelled as a Field Care Supervisor. She has also supported the office team, stepping in as a temporary Care Coordinator when needed.

Her adaptability, commitment and drive show her dedication to ongoing professional development. This stage of her journey also highlights how a career in care can evolve through hands‑on experience, mentoring and growing confidence.

It’s here that her inspiring career in care truly began to take shape.

Delivering Quality Care

Asiya has shown adaptability in every role. She supported our transition to electronic care plans and completes detailed risk management forms with care and accuracy. She keeps each care plan updated, carries out spot checks and reviews, and builds strong relationships with care assistants, customers and families.

“Moving into the office was a real eye‑opener, but having been a Care Assistant really helped because I understand things from both perspectives.”

Her commitment to delivering excellent support shows the depth of responsibility that comes with building a meaningful career in care. This dedication reflects the values at the centre of an inspiring career in care.

We were extremely proud when recently Asiya passed her Field Care Supervisor induction and training with flying colours — not that we ever doubted her!

Making a Difference

Asiya’s passion for people shines through in her work. She loves getting to know clients and families and seeing how small things can make a big difference. “Even the smallest things can make such a difference,” she said.

One experience that stayed with her was supporting Gordon, a client who became very poorly after several hospital admissions. She advocated for him and worked closely with his family and professionals to make sure he received the right support. “Seeing him improve, smile again and regain his personality was incredibly rewarding.”

Moments like these remind her why she loves working in care. “It’s not always about the big things. Sometimes it’s simply seeing someone smile again.”

These moments show the heart of an inspiring care career, where compassion and connection shape every step of her journey.

Growing in Her Role

Asiya also values supporting care staff and helping them build confidence. Despite her office role, she still visits some of her regular clients. “One client joked that I was abandoning him when I moved into the office, so it’s lovely to keep those relationships going.”

Caremark has been a key part of Asiya’s journey since 2023. She said, “I never imagined I’d progress into a supervisory role. I appreciate being given the opportunity to develop within the company.” She continues to support familiar clients, now in a different capacity.

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead, Asiya remains passionate about safeguarding, advocacy and delivering excellent care. “I’d love to continue developing my skills, especially in leadership and management. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I know there’s still more to learn.”

She describes herself as caring, hardworking and determined. “Completing my Social Work degree while working was one of my biggest achievements.”

Her journey from college student to qualified Social Worker and Field Care Supervisor highlights her resilience and growth. “This job has helped me grow so much in confidence. When I look back at where I started, I can really see how far I’ve come.”

Stepping into a supervisory position marked a key milestone in her care sector career journey, demonstrating how dedication and learning open doors to progression. Each step forward strengthened her inspiring career in care and her confidence as a leader.

Care Manager Charlene said:

“Asiya has always worked hard and been committed since joining Caremark and her progression is a reflection of this. She has a natural ability to recognise our customer needs and has an in‑depth knowledge of how best to support them.

She can be relied on to help in many different areas, and we have enjoyed having Asiya join our office team. I feel Asiya will continue to flourish in this sector — which she is so clearly made for!!”
