Personal interest in care
Even though he left school with good passes in all his GCSE’s, Ashton Hopley knew he wanted to start his working career immediately and a personal interest in care led him to start an Apprenticeship with Caremark Mansfield & Ashfield.
Ashton’s mum fosters vulnerable children so he has seen for himself the positive impact good care has on people.
The 17-year-old joined us in September 2023 as our Apprentice Compliance Administrator where he works closely with the office team ensuring that we are compliant with our care records, files, and audits.
At the same time, he is studying a for a Business Administration Level 3 qualification which provides him with the theory behind the job.
“I wanted to start work as soon as I left school and the apprenticeship provides me with the best of both worlds,” says Ashton.
“Every day is different, and I am learning so much and really enjoy it.”
“I have a lot of contact with the customers and their families and there’s nothing better than being able to resolve an issue and knowing they are happy.”
Ashton still has over a year left on his apprenticeship so he’s not making plans for the future at the moment but says he is looking forward to progressing his career in the coming years.
“I can’t see myself working anywhere else than here at the moment,” he adds.
“We have a great team in the office, and everyone has been very kind and supportive towards me.
“I know I definitely did the right thing by choosing an apprenticeship.”
When he’s not at work, Ashton keeps himself very busy, whether it’s watching Mansfield Town FC home and away, playing football (he used to be in the Stags’ Academy), golf (he has a handicap of 5), or indulging his family’s love of horse racing.
Ashton adds: “My family is part of a syndicate which owns horses, and we had one which came fourth in the Cheltenham Festival in 2023, which was amazing.
“I have just invested in my first horse as well, so it’s become a real passion.”
