Marcia has a helping hand from Caremark

Despite being in her nineties, Marcia Henshaw is determined to remain as active as she can be. And with a helping hand from Caremark Mansfield & Ashfield, she’s been able to continue living in her own home and make regular visits to the Church round the road that has played such an important part in her life.
“The carers have been very good and I look forward to seeing them,” said Marcia.
“Sometimes in a morning I don’t want to get up and they encourage me and help me to get started.”
Once she is up and about there’s no stopping Marcia. Even in Winter she likes to keep active and enjoys walking, feeding the birds, popping to the corner shop and attending services or coffee mornings at her local Church.

The couple ran a local youth club
As a young woman, Marcia married Kenneth, an overseer at the local pit and they raised three children. They ran a local youth club and used to love holidays abroad and in particular France.
“I had learned French at school and could speak some of the language and we made good friends over there,” said Marica, 91. “They used to ring us up and invite us over to stay.”
It’s nice to chat and laugh with the carers
Marcia’s children and grandchildren visit regularly whilst carers pop in everyday to check she is ok and has taken her medicine. They call again at night to help her get ready for bed.
“It’s nice to be able to have a chat and a laugh with them,” said Marcia.
“We all have our little problems and it helps to be able to off-load, talking with people can often help.”
