Caremark Cheltenham Loves Being Part of the Community

Caremark Cheltenham & Tewkesbury loves being part of the community. So, on 6 December we took part in the community event “A Celebration of Community” held at Charlton Kings Baptist Church. The event was more than just a festive gathering; it was a powerful reminder of the strength and warmth of our local community. Despite the wailing wind and lashing rain, families, friends, and neighbours arrived in high spirits. They filled the hall with laughter, conversation, and the unmistakable buzz of togetherness.

Consequently, the venue itself was transformed into a hub of joy.  Fairy lights and balloons set the scene, with 28 stalls selling lots of different goodies. Stalls sold everything from handmade jewellery and Christmas cards to Tropic Skincare and delicious home-baked cakes and mince pies. These stalls weren’t just about shopping. They represented the creativity and generosity of local people, each one contributing to the shared festive atmosphere.

Why Caremark Cheltenham Loves Being Part of the Community

For us, the Fayre marked an important milestone.  While we’ve hosted regular coffee mornings and chair-based exercise classes at St Pip and St Jims Church (GL50 2DD), this was our first time joining a larger community event.  It was heartening to see how warmly we were welcomed. Also, how naturally conversations flowed between neighbours who might not otherwise have met.

Introducing Ernie, the GenieLite robotic companion

A highlight of the afternoon was introducing Ernie, the GenieLite robotic companion.  His cheerful presence drew curious children, who eagerly joined our “Guess the Number of Gloves in the Jar” competition.  As they played, parents and carers learned about how Ernie could support older relatives. This sparked meaningful discussions about care, companionship, and the role of technology in enhancing wellbeing.

The Fayre wasn’t just about stalls and competitions. Two hoverboarding Santa’s elves, complete with giant illuminated lollipops, brought smiles to faces young and old. Thus reminding us that joy and playfulness are essential parts of community life.
