The floods this year have been difficult for everybody and especially the most vulnerable in society. At times the city was cut in half, with three main bridges to get over the River Severn closed at the same time.

This could have affected the care service we were delivering and made a logistical issue to time-critical customers who need medication. Between the management, coordinators and with help and advice from the carers in the field we managed to shift things around a little to ensure our customers’ needs were met.

Daryl in particular had some of the societies most vulnerable on his daily round and put in extra every shift as it was needed to ensure they had the care that they needed at the times they most need it. Christina who is quite new to the team went above and beyond for her new customers and to make sure they all had visits no matter where in the city they were.

Sophie the Coordinator was in constant contact with the team and all our customers each day making sure everybody was aware of what was happening when their care was being delivered, she did an exceptional job communicating and liaising with everybody. Some of the feedback we had from the customers was really nice and they were very pleased with the standards even during the difficult times due to closures of the roads.

Managing Director David Balmer said that the Caremark team have been brilliant throughout these very difficult two weeks and they have been pillars of the community looking after the customers in and around Worcestershire and Malvern Hills. I would like to thank all care workers for delivering such high standards and dedication.

The care team have been thanked personally by all of the management and they are now busy preparing for any events that may come due to coronavirus. Now they have been given hand-washing policies and have extra training in infection control to help deal with anything that may arise due to the outbreak.
