Well prepared

Lolitha Luke was well prepared for working in home care, even if it was in a completely new country and climate!

That’s because Lolitha worked in an old people’s home in her home country of India, as well as providing care for her mother and father who had cancer and a stroke, respectively.

So that mean when she was accepted on an overseas sponsorship programme and started working for Caremark Wakefield, it was really only the less tropical weather she had to get used to.

Settling into life in a new country was also helped by the fact Lolitha’s sister works as a Nurse in Leeds so she has been able to stay with her and learn all about the Yorkshire culture.

 “I am so happy to be here, and it definitely helped me that I already had experience working with older people before I arrived,” Lolitha says.

“I remember the first customer I visited complimented me on how good my English was so that really gave me confidence.

“When I am with my customers, I treat them exactly the same as my own family and I am always focused on meeting their needs.”

Outside of work, Lolitha enjoys spending time with her husband and their two sons.

“They already have Yorkshire accents,” jokes Lolitha!
