Caremark Wakefield Connects With the Community at Age UK Coffee Morning

At Caremark Wakefield, being part of our local community is incredibly important to us, and we are dedicated to fostering community support in Wakefield. Recently, Millie, our Care Coordinator, and Alice, our Field Care Supervisor, had the pleasure of attending an Age UK Wakefield event at The Ridings Shopping Centre. The local coffee morning brought together around 80 people from across the community.

Millie and Alice set up a Caremark Wakefield stall with leaflets and information about the support we provide. They also visited tables around the event. This gave people the opportunity to have a chat, ask questions and find out more about care for themselves or a family member, and to understand the importance of community support in Wakefield.

Supporting Local Families Exploring Care

Throughout the coffee morning, Millie and Alice spoke with people who were at different stages of exploring care and support. These conversations further highlighted the ongoing need for community support in Wakefield.

Many people who visited our stall were looking into care for a family member. They wanted to understand more about the options available. Some attendees took information home to discuss with relatives. Meanwhile, others asked questions about the cost of care and the different funding options they could explore.

Having these conversations face-to-face is particularly valuable. Looking for care can sometimes feel overwhelming. Community events provide a friendly and informal environment where people can ask questions and learn more about the support available to them.

Connecting at the Age UK Wakefield Event

One of the highlights of the Age UK Wakefield event was meeting so many people from across Wakefield who value community support in Wakefield.

Millie and Alice enjoyed some wonderful conversations with attendees. They heard stories about people’s lives, careers, partners, children, and experiences. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, making the coffee morning a lovely opportunity to connect with our local community.

We were also delighted to hear from the organisers that they would love to welcome Caremark Wakefield back to future events.

The Important Work of Age UK Wakefield District

Age UK Wakefield District plays an important role in supporting older people and their carers across our local community.

The charity provides a range of services to support people in later life. These services can help people maintain their independence and access the support they need. They include information and advice, befriending, dementia support and opportunities to stay socially connected.
