In the spirit of community and compassion, Caremark Pulborough is proud to spotlight one of our dedicated Care Assistants, Danielle Jones, who has embarked on a remarkable journey – a 10,000k charity run in support of the mental health charity, Mind. Danielle has shared her motivations, experiences, and the profound connection between her role as a Care Assistant and her commitment to raising awareness for mental health.
What inspired Danielle to take part in the 10,000k charity run for Mind?
Danielle reveals that the inspiration behind her charity run lies in a long-standing desire among herself and friends to participate in a meaningful event. Choosing a charity close to home, Mind, felt like the perfect fit.
As a care assistant, Danielle witnesses first-hand the struggles individuals face with mental health. Her empathy and desire to bring smiles to people’s faces drove her to choose Mind as the beneficiary of her run, as the charity works towards helping people find their feet and rediscover happiness.
Danielle gives us an insight into her training routine leading up to the run and how she balances work and preparation for such a physically demanding event
Juggling work and training poses its challenges, but Danielle expresses gratitude for the overwhelming support she receives. Her training routine involves runs in the mornings and evenings, exploring new places to keep the excitement alive. While acknowledging she may not be the next Mo Farah, the cause keeps her motivated.
Why did Danielle choose Mind, and what does their cause mean to her personally?
Danielle’s connection to Mind runs deep, having tragically lost two best friends to suicide. Having also faced her struggles with mental health and being sectioned herself, Danielle recognises the isolation and pain that mental health can bring. Her personal experience with a supportive network inspires her to run and raise funds for Mind, an organisation that provides crucial support networks to those in need.
What message does Danielle hope to convey to others through her participation in this charity run?
In her own words, Danielle encourages everyone facing challenges to understand that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. She wants people to know that, despite how lonely it may seem, they are not truly alone. Her message is one of hope, emphasising that there is support available, and life’s struggles are more common than we might realise.
How can you get involved or support the cause if you are inspired by Danielle’s efforts?
Danielle passionately urges everyone to donate generously to Mind, emphasising that these contributions can help someone find their smile again. Additionally, she extends an invitation for others to join her in the run or contribute to the cause, spreading awareness and support for mental health.
As Danielle takes on this incredible challenge, Caremark Pulborough stands firmly behind her. We invite our community to join us in supporting Danielle’s efforts and contribute to Mind’s vital work. To make a donation or learn more about Danielle’s journey, visit her fundraising page:
