As Robert’s condition advanced, he experienced significant mobility challenges, loss of independence, and communication difficulties. A hospital bed was set up in the home along with transfer equipment, a recliner and television. A small team of carers initially visited twice a day, which worked so well it was increased to 4 times a day for continuity to ensure he was eating well, taking medication and moving as much as possible. Outcome
Since his diagnosis in 2014, Robert is thriving at home with continuous MS symptom management. He maintains a healthy stable weight as carers monitor his fluid input and output, meals and routines. Although he still has trouble communicating, he has maintained his sense of humour. Children and grandchildren visit him daily.
