Not all care companies are the same

After spending six years with another care company Brittany Lester was becoming disillusioned and considering leaving the sector. But thankfully she applied to Caremark Mansfield & Ashfield and discovered not all care companies are the same.

“I’d always enjoyed the work and helping people but the way the other company managed people was frustrating,” said Brittany.

“There was no support, calls to head office went unanswered and my hours dropped.”

After a friend recommended Caremark Brittany joined the company a year ago and hasn’t looked back since.

“I don’t drive so they gave me clients within walking distance or put me on two person calls where my colleague is a driver who can pick me up,” she said.

“I can do up to 40 hours a week now and I love helping people and making a difference to their lives.”

Brittany, 28, says being prepared to spend time listening to clients is the key to good care and with her experience she says she can soon tell if someone is not cut out for the job.

“Every client is an individual and to deliver the best care you need to enjoy spending time with people, being patient and getting to know them,” she said. “You can tell straight away if someone doesn’t have the caring streak, they are looking to rush and get away as quickly as they can instead of showing an interest in the client.”
