The flexibility of hours offered by Caremark

The flexibility of hours offered by Caremark provides an opportunity for carers to work around whatever challenges or circumstances life throws up.
Claire Warren had previously worked for eight years providing care in a residential home before a serious illness meant she had to take a break.
Now she has been able to return to the care sector working in home care support with Caremark Leeds
Enjoying the switch from residential to homecare
“The flexibility at Caremark means I can just work in double teams which is better for me and I can gradually build my hours up,” said Claire.
And Claire is enjoying the switch from working in a residential care home, to supporting people in their own homes.
“I find in home care support you have a bit more time with clients, whereas in a residential home you had perhaps 45 patients to deal with every morning,” said Claire.
“Supporting clients in their own home you still have a schedule to meet but there is time to get to know them better and understand their individual needs.”
Keeping it in the family
Claire, 36, studied child care as a teenager and after leaving college worked as a supply teacher. After a few years she switched to care and through her work in two different residential settings developed various care skills she is able to put to use in home care support – including supporting people with dementia.
Another benefit of working in a doubles team with Caremark is that her work colleague is her daughter, Leigha.
“It’s good because we can share a lift,” said Claire.
“Clients will often realise we are related or we will tell them. We have been mistaken for sisters before, which is nice for me!”
