progress his professional experience

A desire to progress his professional experience in the care sector and to provide better financial security for his family led to Chidi Anyanwu joining Caremark Leeds Bradford.

It’s a move that has worked out well, with Caremark’s flexible working options meaning Chidi can do the extra shifts that suit him and take a four-week holiday to visit his wife and two children in Nigeria.

“This has been my first experience working abroad and I have found Caremark to be very supportive,” said Chidi.

“They provided excellent initial and ongoing training and will work with staff to arrange hours that suit everyone.”

After leaving school Chidi had worked in the family printing business but it wasn’t large enough to provide full time employment and so he joined the health sector which proved a good fit for his compassionate nature.

In 2024 he made the decision to travel to the UK to take up a post in home care support with Caremark Leeds.

“It was work I enjoyed and Caremark offered greater financial reward than I could make in Nigeria,” said Chidi.

“Of course, I miss my wife and children however Caremark have been very understanding and allowed me to take holidays in one block so during the school holidays in August I can spend 25 days with my family in Nigeria.”

When Chidi isn’t working, he’s working out and can usually be found down the local gym. He says being fit makes him feel good and helps him work better.

“It’s important to be positive and to have a smile when you visit people in their home,” said Chidi. “As well as the jobs that need to be done, you need to offer companionship, help people forget about their pain and sickness for an hour and have a good chat and a laugh.”
