Progress her career in the sector

Qualified accountant Regina Chapman first joined the care sector as a way of supporting herself financially whilst visiting a new country. She grew to love the job so much she is now working full time with Caremark Leeds and Caremark Bradford and hopes to progress her career in the sector.

It was challenging at first because I hadn’t done any home care support work,” said Regina. “However, the training was excellent and prepared me well for the job which I now really enjoy.”

Whilst working with Caremark, Regina is also able to study for her NVQ qualification in Health and Social Care.

“As I develop my skills and experience there is a clear career path to work towards within Caremark,” said Regina.

“I’d like to become a care supervisor and then manager and my accountancy background would be an asset.”

Caremark was a good option for him

Regina enjoys spending time in the open air, visiting friends and listening to reggae music in her spare time and has used her days off to explore the UK. Places she has visited so far include Blackpool, Manchester and London and next year she’s planning a holiday in Ghana to visit family and friends.

Regina believes to be a good carer requires a lot of skills, however the three most important qualities are to be compassionate, caring and kind.

“It was the rewarding nature of the job that has led to me loving it,” she said.

“People appreciate it so much when you help then to be happy and comfortable.”
