Grateful for the support

After a lifetime of helping others, Ann Hamilton is now grateful for the support she receives to enable her to stay living in her own home.
Ann was married for 50 years to husband Stephen and in that time the caring couple fostered over 20 children. She also helped to care for her parents during their final years.
Now 70, in the last couple of years Ann has suffered a series of traumas including losing her husband, being diagnosed with breast cancer and breaking her foot in a fall, resulting in severely restricted mobility.
Ann (picture on the right with her friend Annette) has the support of friends who visit and her son Joe who lives with mum. When he is out at work Caremark Leeds Bradford provide support, visiting every morning to help with personal care and some domestic tasks.
“It’s good to have someone pop in during the day,” said Ann. “it is a special person who can do the job and sit and listen and be a friend.”
As part of the plan to enable Ann to continue living at home she now sleeps downstairs. She’s making good progress and is now able to walk using her zimmer frame.
“I’ve been in and out of hospital four times last year, it’s been a traumatic time but things are getting better,” said Ann.
“I’m able to live at home, I look forward to the carers visiting and it gives Joe peace of mind to know someone is calling in on me.”
