Develop professionally
For Felix Odeniran one of the best aspects of his job with Caremark is the opportunity to develop professionally as a carer.
Felix, 47, first began working in the care sector to pay his way through his degree studies with Bradford University.
He enjoyed the role and after leaving University with a degree in International Relations, he continued to work in a residential care home before joining Caremark Leeds Bradford in 2023.
“I prefer this role in home care support because it takes my skills to a new level,” said Felix.
“In a care home everything is regimented, there are a lot of you and you have a specific task and then you move on but when you go into someone’s home to deliver care there is far more responsibility.”
Felix says it is getting to know clients on a one-to-one basis that makes the role so rewarding.
“I feel it is more care focussed. You get to know the person and address their individual needs,” said Felix. “Job satisfaction is very important. This is a fulfilling role and I feel proud to be helping people to stay in the homes they love.”
Married to Tolu with two young children, Felix is a Chelsea fan and enjoys the music of Bob Marley. He says he hopes to be working for Caremark for many years to come.
“The whole package is good,” he said. “Training is excellent and there is plenty of support in place to ensure all you have to focus on is giving good care. You need a passion for this work and if you have that then Caremark is the company to work for.”
