Back on his feet

Gordon Linley has had challenges to overcome in recent years and with the help of his family and Caremark Leeds Bradford, he’s getting back on his feet.
For over 60 years he was married to Edna and when they celebrated their diamond anniversary they became one of the first couples to receive a card from the new King and Queen.
After Edna died last year, Gordon, 86, began to find things a bit harder, mobility became more difficult and he suffered a fall in the bathroom.
“I managed to get my hands down so avoided serious injury and didn’t need to stay in hospital,” he said.
“However it unnerved me, I am a bit unsteady and I was worried I might fall again.”
Now Gordon receives a visit from a carer three times a week to provide re-assurance and help him have a shower.
“They are very good,” said Gordon. “It tends to be the same carer which I prefer as we have got to know each other and we can have a good chat, putting the world to rights.”
Gordon has a son and daughter and three grown up granddaughters who all visit when they can.
“It’s always lovely to see them but they all have their own lives and families of their own so can’t be here all the time,” said Gordon.
“The visits by Caremark means I can have my shower and my family have peace of mind that I am ok and someone is there helping me.”
