Well qualified
After studying health and social care in her native Zimbabwe, Christine Goregore was well qualified for a career with Caremark when she moved to the UK.
And she adapted well to her new career, being nominated in the carer of the year awards just a few weeks after starting.
“I have found Caremark Kirklees a very good company to work for,” said Christine. “They support you with any challenges you may face and with further training. When you feel your efforts are appreciated you work better.”
Christine admits there were a couple of things about her job with Caremark Kirklees that her training in Zimbabwe hadn’t prepared her for.
“I had to get used to driving up and down hills and also I had only ever seen snow before on TV,” she says.
Christine, 40, originally worked as a chef before deciding on a change in career and re-training. She says she loves her job in home care support and would encourage others to consider applying.
“When the opportunity to work in the UK arose, I decided to go for it,” she said. “It’s such a lovely vibe to wake up in a morning and feel you are going to enjoy the day ahead, to meet people and be able to help them in their own homes.”
