Experienced care manager
When Aramide and Obafemi Odele set up Caremark Chesterfield and Bolsover, they knew it was crucial to appoint an experienced Care Manager.
That led them to Ben Secker.
Ben’s passion for care work began after studying Psychology at the University of Derby and where he took a particular interest in supporting people with disabilities and autism.
His first job was working as a Family Support Worker for a charity which helped people with autism and during the pandemic, he played an instrumental role in helping to launch extra remote services so even more people could benefit.
He then took on a role as a Care Coordinator and Service Manager, which gave him operational experience of how care is delivered.
With a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Adult Care, Ben joined Caremark Chesterfield and Bolsover as Care Manager in June 2023.
In this role, he is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the operational side of the business and growing the company, and with the company’s CQC registrationbeing gained toward the end of 2023, he is currently focused on attracting new customers and the carers who will help deliver the high-quality care which Caremark is synonymous for.
Ben says: “Given my background in psychology, I am very interested in ensuring that the people who work for Caremark find real enjoyment and purpose at work and that their overall wellbeing is a priority.
“I want them to see caring as a career and ultimately all this will have a positive knock-on effect for the people we support.
“I have always loved helping people, encouraging their independence, and seeing the impact of this on their lives.
“It’s an exciting time to be joining a company which is just starting out as I can put my own stamp on the job and working with Aramide and Obafemi, we can ensure we deliver excellent care to our customers and be a supportive employer.”
In his spare time, Ben who is married, enjoys gaming, history, and film criticism.
