Caring in memory of her late parents

Caring in memory of her late parents is what drives Sara Samson. In our latest staff article, we discover she has found her calling at Caremark Cheltenham & Tewkesbury.
Sara trained as a teacher in Pakistan, specialising with deaf and speechless children. However, she gave up her work to care for her parents when they became ill.
“After they passed away, I was given the opportunity to care for older people. This inspired me to pursue a career in the care sector,” said Sara.
“I’ve always enjoyed helping people. I wanted a role where I could make a real difference in someone’s daily life and in tribute to my parents.”
Caring and compassionate with a smile
Sara applied for a post with Caremark through an overseas sponsorship scheme.”
The process was explained clearly to me. I have been here two years now and really enjoy my job,” said Sara.
“You need to be caring, compassionate, and be positive. It’s in my nature to smile. If you go in with a smile, the client will smile back. That’s a good start.”

Putting our customers first at all times
What has impressed Sara the most about Caremark Cheltenham & Tewkesbury as a company is the way they put the customers’ needs first. They match those whose English may not be good with a carer who can speak their language.
“We may be the only person the client sees all day. Thus, to be able to have a conversation is very important,” said Sara.
“I can speak Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi. That can make such a big difference to a client. Caremark takes time to match clients with carers who can speak their language.”
She added: “there’s a strong sense of purpose and community here, and I’m proud to be part of it. I appreciate the supportive team environment and the way the company truly values both its clients and its staff.”
Sara is keen to progress her career and plans to study for her level 2 and 3 Health Care qualifications whilst working with Caremark. As well as enjoying her job, she also enjoys living in Cheltenham.
“On days off I visit the local Church and enjoy going to the gym and shopping. There are also some lovely parks I like to walk in.”
