Caremark offers support package for the young

Caremark Cheltenham and Gloucester continues to expand its impact with a heart warming start to a new support package for the young.
At Caremark Cheltenham and Gloucester, our commitment to care goes beyond supporting older people. We are proud to also provide meaningful assistance to children and young people (YP). These young people need help engaging with their communities, developing life and social skills, and gaining independence.
How our support package helped a young customer this week
Last weekend marked a successful beginning to one such support package. On Saturday morning Jess, one of our dedicated Field Care Supervisors, introduced a Caremark carer to a young person and their family.
Jess described the meeting as a warm and relaxed introduction: “The young person and their family were absolutely lovely”. “The carer and the YP connected straight away and had a really chatty, engaging conversation.”
During the visit, the young person proudly showcased a collection of Disney DVDs, explaining how he had carefully organised them. He also shared his excitement about future outings with the carer. This will include going to the cinema, travelling by bus and train, and exploring new places.
Perhaps the most touching moment of the visit came at the end, when the young person offered a handshake to the carer. This is something his family noted was unprecedented, as he typically avoids physical contact. It was a powerful sign of trust and connection.
This success story is just one example of how Caremark Cheltenham and Gloucester is helping young people take steps toward greater independence and confidence in the world around them.
