Live in Care for Compassionate Companionship

When someone loses their lifelong partner, it can have a huge impact on their mental and emotional health, which can then affect their physical health. We look at why live-in care can be a way of providing compassionate companionship after losing a loved one.

The Benefits Of Compassionate Companionship

Loneliness is a growing problem in the UK, and we also have an ageing population. According to the Office for National Statistics, around half of those aged over 65 live alone. In 2014 there were 7.6 million people living alone, which rose to 8.4 million by 2024, and this increase is directly related to the over 65s.

The death of a spouse or partner can have a major impact on someone’s life. People can lose interest in the things they once enjoyed, and they might not feel confident meeting new people. If someone has a medical condition, they may have relied on their partner to assist them with their daily care. A common issue is when surviving spouses start struggling with certain aspects of their care, due to a lack of practical support or depression.

What Is 24/7 Care At Home?

When someone needs more support than a daily or weekly Home Care visit can provide, 24/7 care at home is a useful solution. Known as Live-in Care, this enables people to continue enjoying life in their own homes, keeping to familiar routines, while staying connected to their community.

Dedicated Care Assistants live in with you or a loved one 24/7 to provide consistent and reliable care, designed around your individual needs. Instead of having to leave the familiarity of home to move into an unfamiliar care setting, it can enable you or a loved one to live safely and comfortably. It can also offer reassurance in case of an emergency.

Live-in care covers personal care, medication, household chores and meal preparation. However, it can also include compassionate companionship throughout the day and evenings. With the right support when you need it the most, you can enjoy living life your way in the comfort of your own home.

How Our Care Assistants Make a Difference

Our Live-In Care Assistants will collaborate closely with you and your family to provide dedicated support. However, before you choose any type of care provider, it’s important to check reviews.

As an example, two of our Care Assistants received exceptional feedback in a social worker’s report. This followed completion of a review with one of our customers, ‘P’.

Here are a few highlights from the report:

J emphasised that she “could not praise Caremark highly enough” and has recommended the service to friends. She feels Caremark should be considered one of the top agencies in Warwickshire due to the high standards of care provided.

Both P and her family – particularly her daughter J and her son J – spoke very highly of the support provided by Caremark.

J described the care as “absolutely wonderful” and expressed how grateful she is to have Caremark supporting her mother. She praised the consistency, flexibility, and professionalism shown by the team and highlighted the excellent communication she has with both the carers and the office.

P herself expressed how comfortable she feels with her regular carers and how well they understand her needs.

J also shared positive feedback, saying that the team’s reliability and thoughtfulness have made a significant difference to P’s quality of life.
