Palliative care

Caremark (Mid Sussex) understand the importance of having appropriately qualified care and support staff to deliver the diversity of care needs, presented to us.

We therefore recently joined forces with St Catherine’s Hospice to deliver a four weekly training session to a number of our staff.

This included:

• End of life conversations with patients and their families
• Recognising and understanding the physical symptoms of dying
• Understanding how to care for people’s physical needs at the end of life
• Understanding how loss and bereavement can affect people

All staff found the trainings invaluable and felt that this would enhance the care and support they delivered to customers at the end of life.
