Stroud Job Fair

Stroud District Council hold a monthly jobs fair at their offices in Ebley, Stroud. So Emily and Frances, from our office, attended last month to try to round up some new recruits.

Stroud District Council's Job Fair

Emily and Frances braved not only the wind and rain, but also long motorway traffic queues to man the Caremark stand on Wednesday morning at Stroud District Council’s Jobs Fair which was run in partnership with the DWP.

It was lovely to see old friends and some new faces during the morning and, in particular, a lovely gentleman from Türkiye who has lived in the UK for over 30 years.

Izfat said that he was really looking for driving jobs. However, Emily quickly ascertained that he had many important qualities; he came across as being kind and caring, sympathetic and had raised a family of his own.

Had he thought about working in care? His answer was “no” as he thought he would need special qualifications, which he didn’t have. Let’s bust a myth here You Don’t Need Qualifications to Work In Care!

If you like the idea of being a Care Assistant but don’t think you have the right qualifications, then why not apply for one of our care assistant roles and we can have a chat.

Stroud District Council’s Job Fair

The main purpose of the jobs fair, which is open to all and supported by the DWP, is to:

  • “Get to know your local Employment Adviser.
  • Financial assistance and no-cost resources.
  • Mentoring, mock interviews, site tours.
  • Vacancies, apprenticeships training.
  • Latest updates within the local labour market.”
