All brides want their wedding day to be perfect and thanks to the support of Caremark Doncaster, this certainly was the case for Christine Marriott at her recent nuptials.
Christine’s mum Phyllis has advanced dementia and whilst Christine badly wanted her mum to be present when she married her fiancé Delroy, she knew that the care and support Phyllis requires would have made this more difficult.
“It was important to me that mum was at the wedding, but we knew that my sister Trisha would have had the job of looking after my mum during the ceremony. Then I would have instinctively stepped in to help during the reception,” Christine explains.

“But Caremark ensured mum’s favourite carer, Mehwish, could attend the wedding. She did an exemplary job taking care of her during the ceremony and at the reception.
“This mean Trisha and myself could enjoy the wedding knowing all of mum’s needs were being met. We knew she was in the very best of hands.”
We began supporting Phyllis four years ago after Christine saw one of our adverts in a local magazine.

“We weren’t happy with the homecare company mum had at the time and thought we would had nothing to lose. It was the right decision because they have been fantastic with our mum,” adds Christine.
“From the outset we explained we needed consistency when it came to the carers looking after mum. This is important given the advanced stage of her dementia.
“Given previous experience, Trisha and myself were sceptical when Caremark said we would only have two main carers and a back-up carer when needed. But they were true to their word and this consistency of care has made such a difference to mum.”

Our carers visit Phyllis four times a day to meet all her care needs.
“We wanted mum to be at home in an environment she was familiar with. Thanks to Caremark we have been able to do this,” adds Christine.
“They bent over backwards to help us at the wedding so we could all enjoy the special day. As a family we couldn’t be more grateful to them.”
