Care took less of an adjustment for Parvin
Apart from the Great British weather, moving from Bangladesh to work as Care Assistant in Doncaster took less of an adjustment for Parvin. This is because she worked as a registered nurse in her home country.
That meant the skills were easily transferable. Three years after making the move, Parvin is thriving in her role. Furthermore, she is very popular with the people she supports.
Parvin worked as a Nurse for five years before she moved to the UK with her husband and their baby daughter.
She was one of our first employees when she started in 2023. Now, she is preparing to celebrate her third year at Caremark. She has even got used to the Yorkshire weather.
I am doing a job I really enjoy
“Summers in Bangladesh often reach temperatures of over 40 degrees and they never dip below ten degrees even in winter. So I remember when I experienced my first proper cold here in the UK, it came as a bit of a shock,” recalls Parvin.
“But we are all used to it now. The most important thing is we are all settled and I am doing a job I really enjoy.”
Parvin says being a Nurse has definitely helped in her role with Caremark.
Knowing I have made a difference
“I have always liked caring for people. Also, I wanted to be a Nurse from a very young age, so it’s nice that I have been able to do something similar here,” she says.
“I love helping my customers, knowing I have made a difference and that they appreciate what I do.
“One lady even called me sweet pea which was not a word I had heard before. But that was a very nice thing for her to say about me.
“It’s also nice working for a company where you are well supported so I couldn’t be happier.”
In her spare time Parvin enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter.
“My daughter has just started nursery so that’s a whole new experience. We like to go to the park, shopping and to the cinema,” she says.
