World book day

The joy of reading is being celebrated today (6th March) via World Book Day, a global celebration which recognises the significant role that books play in our lives.

Reading is a fundamental skill that opens the door to knowledge, imagination and creativity for people young and old.

It’s especially important though in early years education. Reading from an early age helps children to develop their literacy skills, including vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking.

It stimulates the imagination and encourages creative thinking, helping children to develop their own ideas and express themselves.

These skills are essential for academic success and for effective communication in everyday life. By encouraging children to read, we are giving them the tools they need to succeed in school and life in general.

World Book Day has been proven to have a significant impact on children’s reading habits and attitudes towards books and by celebrating this day, we are sending a powerful message that books and reading are important and valuable.
